The Earth Mother

by Red Tree Woman

Gather with me around the home fires..as we turn to the west at the end of our day let us think and pray upon our mother earth...she is being torn and shattered with each passing day..and all she holds with in her scream and die..people wonder or ask why do these storms happen..why does the big water come upon land and take all away with it.. why does mother earth open up her ribs and swallow buildings..why?? they blame creator for all of this it is not his blame..the blame must lie with in humans..they tear..rip destroy her and all she can do is scream back..so many cities are concrete all of earth is gone..the forests ..lakes rivers..everything is torn down to make room for progress..have you ever thought about the creatures who once lived there..where did they go..what happened to their world..do we need so much progress..have those who do this ever thought what will happen when all the world is concrete and buildings that reach the star people..do they even care?? i think not.. it comes to money how much more can they make..its not what good can i do to help another it is all me.me.me... breaks my heart when i see garbage thrown around..is it so hard to put it in a garbage can..more storms will come..more people will die...as long as people keep killing her she will do the only thing she knows how..fight back..listen to her..feel her pain..help stop the destruction of our earth before its to late..

Aho!

Red Tree Woman

The Earth Mother
I stare into the misty dawn
And hear the old Owl crying
I feel a oneness with the earth
In the wind I hear the sighing
As I stand in the dawning light
The Earth Mother talks to me
I hear her in the babbling brook
And the rustling of the trees
I feel the comfort of her arms
As they wrapped tightly around
I feel her in the morning mist
And I hear her in every sound
And she tells me of the distant past
And the rising of the sun
I stand there glued to that spot
From her arms, I dare not run
I raise my arms in thanks to her
For all the things I see
As I bask in her beauty
And the gifts she has given me

Earth Teach Me

Earth teach me stillness as the
grasses are stilled with light.
Earth teach me suffering as
old stones suffer with memory
Earth teach me humility as
blossoms are humble with beginning
Earth Teach me caring as the
mother who secures her young
Earth teach me courage as the
tree which stands alone
Earth teach me limitation as the
ant which crawls on the ground
Earth teach me freedom as the
eagle which soars in the sky
Earth teach me resignation as the
leaves which die in the fall
Earth teach me regeneration as the
seed which rises in the spring
Earth teach me to forget myself as
melted snow forgets its life
Earth teach me to remember kindness
as dry fields weep in the rain
